The Client Is Always Right

So, recently I’ve been making a website for a client who is an artist. I made a great looking prototype (if you ask me), but the client was unimpressed. I decided to save the design at the link above in case I decide to use it later for something else, because I quite like it. I have disallowed search engines and changed the text of the web page above to protect my client (he’s a great guy, but we just don’t see eye-to-eye design wise).

My client wants to get rid of the cute (again my opinion) paper page background and manila folder content wrapper. Instead, we will go with a boring obituary-like black border around the content. We will also be replacing the artsy header fonts with a less lively alternative. Oh, and did I mention that he wants the text to be bold? Not just the headers, mind you, but ALL of the text. At least he hasn’t asked me to change the text to all-caps, or comic sans… yet.

Though I’m not the biggest fan of The Oatmeal I guess this comic just about sums up my thoughts right now. And yes, my client can barely use a computer. I had to show him how attach a file to an email today.
